The shrine of the companion Jaafar ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him), who is nicknamed in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, is located specifically in the Karak Governorate. The area where the Battle of Yarmouk took place is called "Al-Mashhad", and the shrine of the companion Jaafar (may Allah be pleased with him) is 5.7 km away from Al-Mashhad. The area where the shrine is located is called Al-Mazar Al-Janubi.
He was martyred in the Battle of Mu'tah after receiving the banner from the commander Zaid ibn Haritha (may Allah be pleased with him). Jaafar (may Allah be pleased with him) held on to the banner and refused to give it up until he breathed his last. When the infidels cut off his right hand, he held it with his left hand. Then they cut off his left hand, so he held it with his arms until he was martyred. And Allah the Exalted and Glorious replaced his hand with two wings in Paradise, as the Messenger Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace
